Quick Guide to Genie+ at Disney’s California Adventure

The newer Genie+ (which has replaced Fastpass and MaxPass) can be a little confusing. So, here is my quick guide to utilizing and understanding Genie+ while at Disney’s California Adventure.
Corrie, what is Genie+ ?
Genie+ is an upgraded ticket option that allows you to access Lightening Lanes, which are the revamped fastpass lanes. With Genie+, you are allowed to use it one time per attraction per day. Current cost as of July 2022 is $20/day per guest ages 3 and up. This can be added to your vacation package prior to your visit, but will need to be added to every Park day.
If not adding it prior you can purchase it as soon as you enter the park straight from the Disneyland App! Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, it also includes Unlimited PhotoPass Digital Downloads from your day.

Okay, I think I'm following - but what are Individual Lightening Lanes?
Lightning lanes are another additional upgrade that you can purchase the day of at the park. The cost of these will vary per park, per day. These can sell out! Individual Lightening Lanes usually feature 1-2 of the most popular rides per park. You can purchase up to 2 attractions per day.

Here are some additional tips to utilizing Genie+ at Disney's California Adventure:
- You can choose to rope drop an Individual Lightning Lane ride. This means you need to arrive 45 mins before the park opens, then make your first Lightening Lane Selection.
- Choose to take advantage of that first hour after opening and ride as many rides as you can BEFORE utilizing Genie+. This will give you later ride times when the park will become busier.
- Prioritize those popular attractions first!
- As soon as you scan into a ride using Genie+ you can begin making your next ride selection. Or it can be made every 2 hours. Repeat this all day!
