Disney World Liberty Tree Tavern Review
Liberty Tree Tavern ReviewBy: Rebecca JonesDown-home comfort nestled in Frontierland, Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney WorldThe colonial theming at Liberty Tree Tavern is very reminiscent of older times, when comfort food reigned. That is exactly what you will find here, especially during lunch. While dinner is your typical Thanksgiving-style feast, complete with turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, lunch is ordered off the menu. Your options can include New England Pot Roast, Freedom Pasta or the Colony Salad. Desserts are delicious as well, and range from Martha Washington’s Cake to No Sugar Added Sorbet. My family ate here for lunch, and we enjoyed the atmosphere, with the themed pages for the kids to color while we waited for a table, to the décor that included references to famous colonial fighters from the Revolutionary War. The food was hot, and there was plenty of it. You shouldn’t leave hungry after eating at Liberty Tree Tavern!I ordered the New England Pot Roast. It is served in a shallow bowl, and everything is layered on top of each other, so if you don’t like your food to touch, this may not be the meal for you. There were large pieces of beef, carrots and onion sitting on top of a generous amount of mashed potatoes. This is “home cooking” at its finest! My husband had the Pilgrim’s Feast, which included turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans, again, all piled up, with a generous amount of gravy. For dessert, we ordered Martha Washington’s cake, which is a dense chocolate cake with a dollop of whipped cream, and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. The toffee cake is topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, and it is all covered in crumbled bits of toffee. Yum!While we love the food at Liberty Tree Tavern, there are a couple of things that may prevent you from eating here. The lobby sits on one floor, and there are steps to get up to the eating areas. If any of your party has mobility issues, this may not be a location you will want to dine. Also, the only restroom is up two flights of stairs, and there are only two stalls in the ladies’ room, so the wait is very long at times. There is a larger restroom close by, outside the restaurant, though.Otherwise, Liberty Tree Tavern is one of my family’s favorite places to have lunch while in the Magic Kingdom! This is a table-service restaurant and is always full when I’ve visited. Advance dining reservations are highly recommended.
