Disney's New Magic Bands & Fast Pass+ Test Family

By Shellie WylieThe impressive box the Magic bands arrived in! One of the Wishes Family Travel guests have been selected as a test family for Disney's new Magic Band technology!  This is the first report step by step, direct from our guests.  Well, I added some notes here and there also...My client first logged into mydisneyexperience.com with a special invitation (when it becomes available for the general public, no invitation will be necessary)  Her resort and dining reservations where already linked (because I had already done that for her) but if yours aren't, you will need to retrieve and link your reservations.  (If your agent made your reservations over the phone there may be a problem retrieving them, but this can be solved easily.)Then she was thrilled to be able to select the Magic Band colors for each person in her family.  There were several colors to choose from so in most instances no two people will have the same color band.  The bands were received within 5 business days at her home in a most impressive box (pictured above).  It was exactly as she expected from Disney!  Beautiful packaging.Magic Bands are mailed directly to guests. The hardest part of the process was selecting the Fast Pass + times.  It wasn't that it was technically hard, just that a decision had to be made on what park, what time, what ride!  We had already completed an itinerary to go along with her dining reservations, so when it was time  to select the 3 advance fast passes a day, it was easier than if we hadn't done any planning!   My client admits that she was concerned to be so locked into a time for a particular ride, as it was a new experience to plan in that fine of detail. The adjustable Magic BandI would caution people who are not as familiar with the parks as  we were, to ask for help from your Wishes Agent.  I could see a novice Disney traveler being overwhelmed by the process.  I could also see someone unfamiliar with the park layout, selecting fast passes that are difficult to get to one after another.  For example scheduling Tower of Terror and Rock N Roller Coaster one after another would be better than slipping in Toy Story Mania in between them.  Everything would depend upon the timing and location. My clients, the Test Family, are traveling in early August.  She will be providing us more information about her experience at that time.  Right now she is extremely happy and excited!  I can't wait to find out how it all works together to enhance their experience at Walt Disney World. If you have questions or would like assistance with your upcoming Disney Vacation, feel free to contact any of the Wishes Family Travel Concierge Agents.Email Shellie
