For The Heroes Contest Winner... By: Ashley CritesThank you Wishes Family Travel for having a great contest to honor all Heroes! I found the contest and nominated our Hero and fellow Firefighter, Jeff Crites.Jeff is not only a great husband and a wonderful Daddy to our children but he is an excellent Firefighter as well. He became a Volunteer Firefighter at the age of 21 and then joined his current Fire Department as a full time Firefighter in 2005.In 2011 our lives were changed when we found out that our third baby, that we were expecting, had multiple birth defects. Isaac was born on July 8, 2011 with lots of severe birth defects that caused him to spend 69 days in NICU, 4 days at home, and 12 days in PICU before he passed away at 85 days old. During this time our Hero, Jeff, knew that he still had to support his family and protect his community so he continued going to work. Jeff knew that there was a chance that he could have to save a baby or even take care of a baby if it passed away in his care but yet he still had a smile on his face and was eager to help.We found out that we were chosen as a top 10 finalist and we asked our friends and family to vote for us. Our friends and family then asked their friends and family to vote for us as well, and so on and so on. A majority of the people that voted for us knew about us and Isaac because they had been praying for us when we need lots of prayers. Then we received the phone call letting us know that we had won the contest and we were so excited! We found out on the 1 year anniversary of Isaac’s death so it made a really bad day a little more bearable.We decided to take our trip in September 2013 to make some magical memories close to Isaac’s death anniversary. We picked Disney’s Polynesian resort as our resort and we extended our vacation for a few nights at Pop Century. We had a great time making lots of magical memories with 6 days in the parks, some relaxing time for the pools and Downtown Disney, and a few character meals for our 2 kids. We all really enjoyed making lots of new memories and even shed some tears as we were leaving because we did not want the trip to end.Wishes Family Travel is an excellent company that supports some wonderful causes and our Heroes! The agents take great care of their clients and some even become wonderful friends through the process! I have since learned that Wishes Family Travel is hiring new agents so I applied and now I can happily say that I am now a part of a great company!
