Ice Cream Connoisseur at Universal Orlando

I love ice cream. Everywhere I travel, I need to try some local ice cream. So of course, on my last trip to Universal Orlando, I made sure to order some! However, what I did not realize, was just how many different ice cream options I would be presented with over the course of the week. This blog goes out to all the ice cream lovers so they can find their favorite treat on their next visit to Universal.

One of the most popular snacks at Universal’s Volcano Bay is the ice cream. Volcano Bay is known for their unique soft serve flavors at the Koka Poroka stand. Their most popular combination is the Waturi Fusion, a colorful combination of banana, blueberry, raspberry, orange, and strawberry flavors. One of my friends made sure to order this beautiful concoction while I decided on an orange and vanilla swirl.

Hint: This is a great use of a snack credit on the Universal Quick Service Dining Plan!

I do not know how it happened, but somehow over the course of this vacation, I kept ordering meals that included milkshakes. I am not complaining at all as they were all delicious in their own way, but this really added to my ice cream intake over the course of the week!

One of my favorite milkshakes came from Cabana Bay’s Bayliner Diner. The Cabana Burger Milkshake Combo with Fries was a great lunch after a morning of traveling. I had this the afternoon I checked in to this on property resort and it hit the spot!

Another meal that came with a milkshake was the Jerk Mahi Sandwich Combo with a Diet Coke, Fries, and Chocolate Milkshake from Whakawaiwai Eats at Volcano Bay. On the Universal Quick Service Dining Plan, the milkshake is included! This was a great midday snack to help us cool down. Besides, who can say “no” to a milkshake at no extra cost?!

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium milkshakes deserve a shoutout and paragraph all to themselves. These decadent milkshakes are out of this world! They are so over the top in looks, flavor, and presentation. I always tell friends, family, and clients that a visit to Toothsome is a must. On this visit, I tried the Espresso Buzzzzzz Milkshake. This milkshake is made up of coffee ice cream, espresso, chocolate espresso beans, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! I have tried other milkshakes at Toothsome and while they are all good, this one is my favorite!

My favorite ice cream spot in all of Universal is Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour in Diagon Alley. The ice cream flavors are so unique, and the team members make great suggestions on flavors that compliment each other well so you have something new to try. I went twice during my stay because I had two snack credits to use.

My favorite flavor was the Earl Grey and Lavender. It was subtly sweet, not overdoing it… just right! A team member suggested I combine it with a scoop of the Chocolate Chili. The Chocolate Chili had a kick and was spicy but having the Earl Grey and Lavender scoop underneath to calm down the flavors worked so well together! Never in a million years would I have combined those flavors, but I am so glad I did.

One spot for ice cream that I wanted to try but ran out of time was at the Hop on Pop Ice Cream Shop. Here, you get to choose an ice cream bar and then choose the toppings it is dipped in. YUM! It is also a snack credit on the QS Dining plan! Another QS snack credit can be used at Cold Stone Creamery on CityWalk. Cold Stone has great ice cream, but I always opt against going here because it is a chain and I have one at home. I like to try new things on vacation as opposed to things I can get down the road from my house.

If you or your family and friends have a food that you just love to try on vacation, let me know! When we book your trip this can be something I add to your itinerary and suggestions! I love customizing these documents for my clients so they know exactly where they can get some of their favorite foods while traveling.
