Keeping the Magic Alive When the Vacation is Over

Becky CriswellOctober 27, 2016If you’re anything like me you come home from vacation, especially a Disney vacation, and you start feeling the blues. You’re missing the fun, the laughter, the food, and the memories. You’re missing the sights, the sounds, and the smells. You are dreaming of when you will be able to go back again. So how can you keep the Disney magic alive during the long months until your next Disney vacation? Here are a few easy and inexpensive ways to keep the magic going.bc1

  • Visit the Disney Store. Unfortunately, many Disney Stores have closed over the past few years. If you still have one near you, plan a visit! It provides the next best thing to the true Disney atmosphere. Just try not to spend too much money – yeah right!
  • After our most recent trip to Walt Disney World, my young son came home and became hooked on watching “It’s a Small World” videos on YouTube, from the rider’s point-of-view. We soon discovered dozens of videos featuring his favorite attractions. He thought it was fun to see places he had just been to, and it kept the memories alive in his little mind for months. I like to watch along with him and pretend I am really there.
  • Disney Movie Nights – Plan weekly movie nights featuring Disney movies. Be sure to include the new ones, as well as the classics! It’s also fun to include Disney-themed meals and snacks to go along with the movie. For example, enjoy a spaghetti and meatball dinner followed by Lady and the Tramp, or an ice cream sundae night while watching Frozen!
  • Disney Breakfast at Home – One of things I miss most when I come home from Walt Disney World is breakfast. You can’t beat those delicious Mickey waffles! Did you know you can make Mickey waffles at home? You can buy an inexpensive Mickey-shape waffle maker. You can also create Mickey pancakes by putting together one large and two small circles. It’s also fun to buy a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter for your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
  • Dollar Disney Items – Many dollar stores carry tons of Disney items. Stock up on these fun trinkets and surprise your kids from time to time. Items like notepads and pens, magic towels, puzzles, and bubbles make great Disney themed rewards for your children.
  • Photo Album – Order a story photo album of your Disney vacation photos when you return home. Tell the story of your vacation! Kids will love reading about their own family and reliving their magical vacation over and over!
  • Disney Drawing – Check out these super fun videos on YouTube that will teach you how to draw your favorite Disney characters!

Just because you are home from your vacation, doesn’t mean the magic has to end! Enjoy some of these activities to keep the fun going. And when you are ready to do the real thing again – call me and we will start planning! I would love to help with your next vacation.
