Renting A Car at Walt Disney World
05/26 | Leslie Dinunzio
Living in such a car-dependent world can be pretty exhausting, but I have excellent news: You DEFINITELY don’t need a car while on Disney property.
From the minute you cross the gate and check into your resort, your transportation to everything Disney is covered; from buses, to monorails, and even sky-high gondolas! Sometimes, however, you just need a vehicle.
Perhaps you are cruising and want to drive to the port. Perhaps you want to experience another part of Florida or other attractions. Or, like my family, following a few days at Disney World, you want to spend a few relaxing days at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. But how to get there!? The answer is Disney’s Car Care Center near Magic Kingdom. Did you know that there are car rental counters on Disney property?
During a Christmas week stay, we needed to get from Walt Disney World to South Carolina, which is about a five-to-six hour drive. You really do need a car in Hilton Head and we needed to be able to drop if off at Savannah Airport following our trip. Disney makes the rental process easy. Car rentals can be booked online and the link is right on the Disney website. You can choose Alamo, National or Enterprise.
The day before our rental began, Disney Car Care staff contacted me to confirm my pick-up time and the resort I was staying at. They also offered a complimentary shuttle, picking my son and I up right at my resort. The rental process was very quick and Cast Members were as friendly as they all seem to be. My son and I were able to pick up our rental and drive it back to Riviera Resort to pack up and enjoy our road trip to the Low Country. The car had been cleaned and we were provided with extra Clorox wipes!
