Rose and Crown: An Epcot Gem
By: Audrey WillisMay 8, 2018The restaurants in World Showcase are one reason I enjoy Epcot. With the décor and the wait staff being from the country you are dining in, you almost forget that you are in Florida. One of my family’s favorite places is Rose and Crown in the United Kingdom pavilion. So of course we headed there first for lunch on our last visit. Rose and Crown is one of two restaurants overlooking the water in World Showcase. If you eat dinner here, try to time it so that you can eat outside and enjoy Illuminations. One of the great things about Rose and Crown is that it is actually a full-service pub. Pictured are the drinks we ordered: two Magical Star Cocktails, which can be found at many Disney World restaurants; The Welsh Dragon, a fruity green drink; and a Cider & Black, which is a pint of Strongbow Cider with a shot of black currant juice, yum!We were on the deluxe dining plan, so we each received an appetizer, entrée and dessert. For starters, we had two United Kingdom Cheese Platters, a Scotch Egg and the St James Cold Smoked Salmon. The cheese plate is my absolute favorite, but the Scotch Egg was delicious. The person who ordered the salmon said that it was good as well.Rose and Crown has two signature entrees, Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash. Normally I order the Fish and Chips, as it is one of my favorite dishes. However, having already eaten this elsewhere in the week, I opted for the Welsh Pub Burger. The burger was extremely flavorful and topped with Welsh Rarebit sauce, Branston mayonnaise, bacon and beer-battered Leeks. Everyone else ordered the Fish and Chips which was delicious as usual. We were quite stuffed when it came time for dessert. Since we were staying at the Boardwalk Resort and were heading back to our room, we elected to get our dessert to go. We ordered three sticky toffee puddings and an English trifle. Unfortunately the pudding did not transport as well as the trifle and we had a bag full of pudding by the time we got back to the room.
