Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort / Jamaica

By: Anna TrosperJune 8, 2017We, as Americans, often do not realize how incredibly hectic and exhausting our daily lives really are; it’s only when we’re able to get away for a while that we’re finally able to let go of our stresses and worries that we weren’t aware we had.In December 2016, I had the opportunity to fly down for a week to the Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Immediately I felt welcome as I entered the incredibly well-manicured grounds, surrounded by smiling faces and a warm sea breeze. I was able to bypass your typical front-desk as we were taken on a tour of the resort then led to our rooms and checked in by our very own butler! Because of this service, we were able to immediately enjoy all the amenities the resort had to offer.Sandals-jamaica1The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive at Sandals Royal Caribbean is how meticulously kept the grounds are. Every morning, you’ll see groundskeepers out and about making sure that the greenery is impeccably maintained, giving guests the opportunity to fully enjoy the nature surrounding them. Jamaica is definitely the place to go if you want to be surrounded by beautiful landscaping!Sandals-jamaica2The landscaping itself is only a fraction of what contributes to Sandals’ amazing atmosphere. While screaming children and loud, party-crazy college kids are fun in their own right, this definitely is not the resort for them. Make sure you leave the kids with grandma, because all Sandals resorts are 18+ only! If you want to be truly relaxed, at ease, and to feel completely fine with lying on the beach all day, you’ll definitely love Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort. Now to bring up everyone’s favorite topic- food! The food variety was eclectic enough; I’m quite the picky eater, so I didn’t have an overwhelmingly positive experience with the cuisine. The food didn’t feel quite as gourmet as I would have liked. It’s possible I’m in the minority, however, because I did meet several couples who have frequented the resort for years and raved about the cuisine. It really does depend on your own individual palate, so maybe book a trip of your own and decide for yourself!Sandals-jamaica3Perhaps what sets Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort apart from most other resorts is that it has its own private island, Sandals Cay. “Private Island” is no misnomer, either- Sandals Cay is secluded, quiet, and serene. Only accessible by boat, you can enjoy your time away from the resort by relaxing on a lounge chair and, should you so decide, have your own butler bring you drinks and snacks at your desire.Sandals-jamaica4Overall, I had a great experience with Sandals Montego bay. I recommend you all find a reason to book a trip through Wishes Family Travel down to Sandals sometime soon!
