The 50’s Prime Time Cafe Experience

One of the most fun restaurant experiences in Walt Disney World is the 50’s Prime Time Café.

Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this lunch and dinner eatery has classic comfort foods with a theme and character component.  Set in a 1950s atmosphere, you will see kitchen nick-naks, such as a lobster mold on the wall and appliances like an old- fashioned radio or toaster. Colorful countertop seating adds to the atmosphere.  The real fun here is the servers, your mom, aunt or even an uncle.  They joke and cajole you to “clean your plate” and “eat your vegetables!” We had the most fun with our Auntie, who joked with us that we could have the extra calories of a milkshake because we “already ordered the onion rings, sheesh!”

The food here is classic comfort food with appetizers such as chicken noodle soup or Cousin Amy’s iceberg wedge.  We had the beer battered onion rings and Grandpa’s crab cake. The onion rings were crisp and not at all greasy, and the crab cake was delicious on a bed of tasty succotash.  Entrees include Mom’s Pot roast and Cousin Megan’s meatloaf as well as Aunt Liz’s fried chicken.  For a lighter lunch there are Caesar salads with either salmon or chicken.  We both chose the fried chicken, which was amazingly good. It was served with mashed potatoes with gravy and corn.  The portions were very generous with a large breast and thigh with a leg and wing as well.  The breading was crisp and the chicken juicy.  We were very happy with our choices.  Desserts served here included brownies, apple crisp, peanut butter cake, s’mores and sundaes.  We loved the s’mores!

Beverages at 50’s Prime Time Café are also a highlight. You can have flavored sodas, Coke or root beer floats or delicious milkshakes.  Milkshake flavors include chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or peanut butter and jelly!

We loved our meal at 50’s Prime Time Café.   The prices seemed very reasonable considering the large portions.  I would highly recommend giving it a try next time you are in Hollywood Studios.  Reservations are a must.

I would love to help you plan a trip that includes this wonderful restaurant!
