Top 5 Reasons to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

I have had the privilege of staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort four times over the last two years. This resort has become my favorite, and I find new reasons to love it with every stay. Here are the top 5 reasons you should consider staying at this classic resort on your next Disney vacation.
1: Location, Location, Location! Monorail, bus, boat, and or even walk to Magic Kingdom Park. This location is so close to Magic Kingdom that you have multiple options for accessing the park. Even with the Polynesian monorail stop currently closed for refurbishment, you can still access the monorail at the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center) through a very short walkway from the resort. Signage will lead you; and on our last stay this ended up being closer to our room than the actual monorail stop at the Ceremonial House. And when standard operations are running, you can access Epcot by monorail also, giving you easy access to two of the four parks.
2.) The Views! The resort is set directly across Bay Lake from Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park boasting beautiful views of Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, as well as the other monorail resorts. Many of the rooms themselves hold phenomenal views, but for those that don’t, Adirondack chairs and swings are set out on the beach to allow for some relaxation while taking in the view. On our last stay we were able to see castle projections and the electrical water pageant from our balcony. My kids loved sitting and watching the monorail go around.
3.) The Food! The Drinks! Captain Cooks; Kona Café; Trader Sams; Barefoot Bar; Ohana and Aloha Isle are just some of the eateries at the Polynesian. And all of them are equally amazing. There is nothing like watching a movie on the Poly lawn under the stars, with a Dole Whip, or sitting by the pool with a Lapu-Lapu. Truly, everything is delicious!
4.) The Volcano Pool! The Polynesian is home to two amazing pools, but it is known for its Volcano Pool located right outside the Ceremonial House at the center of the resort. The pool has a fun, twisty waterslide; a children’s play zone; a pool bar; an amazing hot-tub set in the volcanic rock, all overlooking Bay Lake with a fabulous view of the castle! I love this pool and plan pool days into our vacation to take advantage of all it offers.
5.) It Sleeps 5! Many of the hotels only have standard rooms that sleep 4, but a Deluxe Studio Villa at the Polynesian sleeps 5 people. This room has a queen bed, sleeper sofa, and pull-down sleeper, it is a great option for families of 5. And it even has a small kitchenette and 2 showers making it easier to get ready for a day in the parks.
OK, I may be biased, but I think the Polynesian is a good choice for everyone, and I would love to help you experience this resort on your next Disney vacation!
