Walt Disney World with Friends

Have you ever thought about taking a Disney trip with your friends? Well, I am here to tell you, do it!  There are so many negative and depressing things going on in the world today, I feel that we all need some time for ourselves to feel free of all the pressures of daily life. If you have kids like me, there might be a certain amount of guilt for leaving them at home. The best advice I can give you is to lose the guilt and have some fun.

The first thing I would like to discuss is the overall freedom of the trip. I felt that I could just go with the flow. I ate at places I had never tried before and was pleasantly surprised. Some of the restaurants I went to included The Plaza and Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom, and Gaston’s Tavern – which had the most delicious dessert ever. I also tried Ale and Compass at the Yacht Club Resort. Finally, I enjoyed my first Dole Whip at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom. It was great to try all the new places that my children would not have chosen if they had been there.

Next, I thoroughly enjoyed riding the slower paced rides. We weren’t spending time waiting on roller coasters that we did not necessarily like but were doing it for the kids. We enjoyed the “oldies but goodies” like It’s a Small World, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean.  I felt very relaxed the entire visit since we were not on a timer to get from place to place.

I don’t know if your family is like mine, but they do not like to take pictures. This was one of the best parts of the trip for me. My friends and I took full advantage of the Memory Maker. We had so many magic shots taken, I had a permanent smile plastered on my face. It warms my heart to look back at all of our crazy pictures and laugh at what a great time we had.

Overall, I had a wonderful time and I highly recommend going on a friends-only Disney trip. I thought that I would feel awkward by not having my family, but it was quite the opposite. I learned that I can have just as much fun with friends as I do with my family. That just goes to show that Disney is not just for kids, it’s for everyone.
