Pop Century – A Groovy Resort

This summer my daughter, her friend, and I had a groovy time at the Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World in Florida. This resort is so much fun. The biggest perk is also the newest form of transportation on property, Disney Skyliner. This gondola system is conveniently located between Pop Century and Art of Animation on Hourglass Lake and offers a faster way of getting to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The resort has a fun theme that spans the decades between 1950-1990. Each section really immerses you in the pop culture of a different decade, leaving you feeling like you have been transported back in time.

The food court, Everything POP!, is a lively place to grab a bite…or a souvenir. The famous tie-dye cheesecake is a must every time we go. A variety of food stations provide options that are sure to please any palate. There are burgers, sandwiches, and Italian or even healthier options like wraps and salads. For just a little bit extra, you can upgrade to a Preferred Room which puts you close to the food court and pool area or close to the Skyliner station. The main pool, known as the Hippy Dippy Pool, is situated right outside the food court and is heated so it can be enjoyed year around. For the adults, there is a poolside bar to enjoy beverages while lounging and resting your tired feet.

Speaking of tired feet, you will be happy to know that you will get a great night’s rest at this resort. The rooms have been refurbished and now have a queen bed and a pull-down queen (Murphy-style) table bed. Both beds are equally comfortable, but you get the added bonus of more room with the murphy-bed folded up. Each room has wood floors, a mini fridge, and a coffee maker. These in-room amenities make for a pleasurable stay.

Overall, this resort is a great value for families and a ton of fun for the little ones and fans of nostalgia. Staying at Pop Century, all your vacation needs will be met along with some Disney magic sprinkled around. I stayed at a discounted Travel Agent rate, but even at full rate, this resort is very affordable. I would highly recommend giving it a try on your next trip. I do not think you will be disappointed.
