Belize is a quiet, easy-going nation, located in the heart of Central America. It is one of the top destinations for people wanting to escape in the winter and looking for someplace different for a summer vacation. The weather in Belize is pleasant and warm all-year-round and the country features a mix of different cultures. They are friendly, English-speaking people, and will make you feel right at home as you explore some of the amazing things Belize has to offer.

Here are just a few reasons why you should put Belize on your travel bucket list!

The Weather

With a tropical climate, and warm sunny skies nearly all-year round, you can’t beat the weather in Belize. September and October are when it rains the most. Even then, it may just be a morning shower and then it is gone for the day. You rarely need anything heavier than a sweater when in Belize, and a T-shirt and sandals are the dress code of choice. The average yearly temperature is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity hovering about 85%. The coolest winter temperatures can reach the low 60's. During the hottest parts of summer, it can reach the mid 90's on the mainland.

Belize Islands

Belize has hundreds of gorgeous islands, known as cayes (pronounced “keys”). These islands range from the laid-back town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye to the diving paradise of the atolls on the Belize Barrier Reef. Great diving! There is an island to fit everyone’s vacation types.

Belize has Adventures to be had

With so much to see and do in Belize, you won’t be bored. Whether you’re interested in tubing down a river through caves, hiking mountains, spelunking in huge caves, Scuba diving, or exploring the jungle and all the wildlife, there is plenty to do for the adventurous traveler.

Diving and Snorkeling

Clear and warm Caribbean waters make snorkeling and diving in Belize some of the best found anywhere in the world. Belize Barrier Reef is the 2nd largest in the world and is home to dozens of species of fish.

The Great Blue Hole

Speaking of diving! The Blue Hole has been declared by famed marine biologist Jacques Cousteau as one of the best diving sites on the planet. When I was there, I did not get to dive here, but I am for sure going back. The Great Blue Hole is a unique circular depression next to the Great Barrier Reef that divers can explore, and an enormous underwater series of caverns carved out during the last great Ice Age, they say.

Wildlife

Whether you are interested in bird watching some of the rarest tropical bird on the planet or want to see jaguars, Belize has it all. You can see crocodiles, monkeys, and manatees playing in their natural habitat, or embark on a diving tour to swim with the whale sharks. Whale shark season is from the end of April till the end of June.

Mayan Ruins

Belize was once the heart of the ancient Mayan Empire. Today, dozens of Mayan cities can be explored throughout the country. Towering temples, beautiful carvings, and grand plazas are just waiting for you to explore.

Beaches

You want beaches? Belize has hundreds of miles of pristine, white beaches you can enjoy all year around. Belize country is located on the western shores of the Caribbean Sea, so you can enjoy a tropical vacation of your dreams year around. Nothing better than a sunset in the Caribbean.
